Some Shots Around the House
Not too exciting. Some photos I took over the last few weeks:
Top: An ant on the counter.
Middle: The metal bracket that holds our water heater to the wall. In Calif., water heaters are required to by secured like this. It’s meant to stop the heater from tipping over during an earthquake. No one wants boiling hot water flooding through the house, especially during an earthquake.
Left: The gas line for the water heater. The dust, the metal, the “Do Not Reuse” tag. I don’t know why, but I thought this was interesting.
Some Random Dog Photos
Observations From Disneyland:
Disneyland is much smaller than Disneyworld, but it has the unique charm that comes from being the first of the Disney Parks.
That said, I’m not sure it will ever occupy the same place in our hearts as WDW.
Here are some photos from our first visits:

Michelle likes it at DL:
Here’s one for my dad, if he’s reading. It’s a DL fire engine!
Even at Disney, I just can’t stop the law student in me:
The New Car
I don’t know why I didn’t post on this sooner. It’s pretty big news. Price is Right big:
A NEW CAR!!!
It’s a 2010 Altima Hybrid. We got a great deal on it thanks to dilligent research, good credit, and most of all: lawyerly negotiation. Of course, some life lessons from the old man came in pretty useful too. Like never take any deal on the first visit. Always walk out. Works like a charm.
Here’s some photos from the driver’s seat.
Also, just for the record, everything I post here is copyrighted. I’m happy to discuss a licensing arrangement if you happen to be from Nissan and looking to use these photos… [I know, it’s a real stretch].
We Live in Agrestic
For those of you who aren’t fans, or don’t have Showtime, Agrestic is the name of the fictional community on Weeds. Weeds is a show about a widow in Los Angeles who, in order to make her house payment, sells marijuana. The beauty of the premise, especially in the earlier seasons, was that her story was set in this yuppy suburb where everyone was too self-absorbed to notice that their neighbor might have been up to some criminal activity.
The point is, we live in that community now. See for your self:
The intro sequence for Weeds:
A Google maps view of our neighborhood, and a map of all the It’s a Grind Coffee Houses:
The view from our window:
Some shots from around the ‘burbs:
…more little boxes going in. |
…and what they will probably look like when done. |
And lastly, some of the silly names they give to neighborhoods [compare to Agrestic and Majestic]:
It’s all pretty absurd.
Dogs in Awkward Poses:
It’s been too long….
I havent posted here, or on my other blog, in far too long.
Here’s a quick update, and I promise there will be pictures and better posts on both blogs this weekend.
I started school at UCLA a couple weeks back. The commute is terrible, but I think I will survive. Next semester I’m going to try to take all my classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays so I only have to make the trek twice a week.
I also started a job. I don’t want to post too many details yet, but it’s a law firm that does trademark, business, and some real estate litigation. It’s a small firm, but I am already getting a lot of hands on experience that I think will be really helpful going forward.
Michelle and the dogs are doing well. She works mostly afternoons, evenings and weekends, so the dogs are rarely without one of us. They like that.
That’s about it. I promise, for realsies, better posts this weekend.
