We Did It!

We finally made it to the house. Did the walkthrough. Dogs have sniffed everything.

Having problems with the moving company. No details for now.

Day 3: Go!

These dogs like hotels.

In a few minutes we will leave our hotel in Albuquerque. We should be to our new home by sundown.

Day 2: Complete

We arrived in Albuquerque, NM only 11 hours after we left Dallas, TX.  We are safely in our hotel with the pups, and getting room service for dinner.

We have some time to kill tonight, so right now I am watching Mad Max 2 on WGN.  It’s one of my favorite movies I’ve never owned.  It’s a fitting movie for a cross-country trip, but our trip has not been near as harrowing. 

Some observations from the day:  New Mexico is very hot.  The landscape here is almost alien.  The plateaus and mountains seem to rise out of the desert at random, and the color of the clay makes the rare river or pond a disturbing orange.  I saw one mountain with different colors of clay showing in strata on its side, and the whole thing dotted with green trees.  I tried to get a photo of the polka-dotted strips, but the cell phone camera did not do it justice.

We should be hitting the road tomorrow by 8 a.m. Mountain Time, and should be in our house by 7 p.m. Pacific.

Day 1: Complete

Day 1: Panama City, FL to Dallas, TX.  Completed in just under 12 hours.

We got to the hotel around 7:15, and smuggled the dogs inside with no incident.  We got some Outback for dinner, and while I’m writing this Michelle is enjoying the season finale of Glee.

After one more outing with the dogs, we’ll head to bed for an early start on tomorrow [Dallas to Albuquerque].

Stop #2

Stopped in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Michelle is driving now. She watched Alice in Wonderland (the animated classic) while I was driving, I think I might watch The Incredible Hulk.

Anywho, got gas and food. Westward we go.

For my birthday, Michelle got me a Leatherman (awesome).  She also made me a root beer cake (delicious).  I quickly cut myself with the knife, and then cheered myself up with the cake.
